Minor in Asian Studies

The Asian Studies minor complements the skills the student gains in his or her major discipline by providing an interdisciplinary study of the culture, history, politics, and contemporary business of the Asian/Pacific world.

Objectives

The student who graduates with a Minor in Asian Studies will be able to

Examine and analyze aspects of Asian history, politics, business, economics, and society.

Examine and analyze aspects of Asian culture.

Hone analytical, research, and writing skills within Asia-centered course topics and themes.

Requirements for the Minor

A minor in Asian Studies requires the completion of 15 credits of coursework in Asian Studies, which must include ASTD 150 or 160. Courses appropriate for the major in Asian Studies apply. Courses may not duplicate those used to satisfy requirements for the major. At least 9 credits must be earned in upper-level courses (numbered 300 or above). Prerequisites apply for all courses.
