Majors and Minors

The academic major requires 30 to 38 hours of credit, while the minor (optional except for accounting majors) requires 15 to 19 credits. Half of the credit applied toward any major and any minor must be upper level, and at least half the credit for any major or minor must be taken at UMUC. At least half of the credit applied toward a major or minor must be earned through graded coursework. A maximum of six 1-credit courses may be applied toward a major and a maximum of six 1-credit courses may be applied toward a minor. See major and minor listings for specific requirements. Each major is available only for the Bachelor of Arts (BA) or the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Dual majors are available only for the Bachelor of Science degree.
