Welcome to the 50th year of the University of Maryland University College program in Asia and the Pacific. Students registering for a course with UMUC join millions of others who have elected to continue their education. These students decide to go to college for personal development or career advancement. Uniting them all is the belief that no one can acquire all the information, ideas, and skills needed for a full and productive life in a few years of study immediately after high school. Instead, they see learning as a lifelong process.

University of Maryland University College (UMUC), working in cooperation with the Department of Defense, has been a pioneer in providing students in military communities with educational opportunities. Part-time adult students have needs and goals that are different from those of younger, full-time university students. UMUC recognizes these differences. Programs and class schedules have been developed to meet the special needs of military students, but the academic standards required by the University have been maintained.
