Yuko Brubaker
Location: Distance Education
Ms. Brubaker earned her bachelor's degree from Seijo University in Tokyo and a graduate-level certificate in teaching Japanese as a second language sponsored by the city of Fukuoka in Kyushu. In addition, she successfully completed a simultaneous translation program at the Language Laboratory of Inoue (Fukuoka). Before joining the UMUC Asia faculty in 1998, Ms. Brubaker taught Japanese language for the Sony Corporation and for language institutes in Nagasaki and Taipei, as well as serving as a translator for an international economic conference in Japan. In 1995 the Japanese Ministry of Education awarded her the Takase prize for her work in teaching and translating.
